A Comprehensive Look of the All New 2023 BMW M 1000 R

October 13, 2022

As the newest addition to BMW's line of street motorcycles, the M 1000 R is sure to turn heads with its sleek design and powerful engine. While it may be designed with the streets in mind, this motorcycle is also more than capable of taking on the track. With a 205 hp engine and aero winglets for added stability. The team at Jody Perewitz is excited to get to take a closer look at this marvellous piece of machinery.

Close up look to its remarkable winglets

Peak power remains the same, but variable valve timing BMW calls ShiftCam provides a torque hit from 10,000 to 12,000 RPM, and as a bonus, makes the engine a bit quieter; the 14,600 RPM redline, however, is well over the S 1000 R’s twelve grand limits, meaning the naked M will be at home on the track as well.

The new M 1000 R’s styling is evolutionary, not revolutionary; it looks a bit like a shrunken S 1000 RR. The headlight is a sharp, focused affair that gives the bike an almost insect-like visage. It’s flanked by two smaller lights that act as daytime running lamps and turn signals.

The front fender is small and stubby, like on the 2023 Ducati Multistrada, but the M gets a bit more fairing below the headlight.

The motorcycle’s main attraction is its 1,000 cc inline-four engine, which now produces a peak power of 208 hp at 13,500 rpm and 113 lb-ft of torque at 10,500 rpm. That’s an increase of 8 hp and 3 lb-ft over the outgoing model, thanks in part to new cylinder heads, a higher compression ratio, and larger valves. BMW says the M 1000 R will do 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 174 mph.

The M 1000 R brakes that are twin 320mm steel discs and aluminum 4-piston fixed calipers at the front and a single 265mm steel disc with a 2-piston floating caliper at the rear. BMW's M 1000 R motorcycle comes equipped with powerful brakes that are sure to keep you safe on the road.

The winglets not only look incredibly cool but also help to keep the bike more stable at high speeds by providing downforce. The M 1000 R is also equipped with an electronically adjustable windscreen and a quickshifter for both up and downshifts.

The front suspension is by Ohlins, with a 43mm USD fork and an Ohlins STX 46 rear shock. The wheels are carbon fiber, as is the tail section. The brakes are Brembo Stylema units.

The new BMW M 1000 R is a powerful and stylish motorcycle that is sure to turn heads. With its sleek design, powerful engine, and an adjustable windscreen, this bike is ready to take on the streets or the track. Whether you're looking for a street bike or a track bike, the M 1000 R is a great option.
